Drimnin is one of the most beautiful, remote places in Scotland, tucked away at the end of 12 miles of single track road from Lochaline. The road ends at Drimnin pier from where a foot passenger water taxi normally runs weekly in season to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and back (for further details/timetables please contact 07826 916 377, to avoid disappointment booking in advance of your stay is highly recommended). This is a popular day trip for visitors and locals alike for shopping, sightseeing in Tobermory and enjoying the boat trip itself! Drimnin has a local Post Office which is open all day every Tuesday and Wednesday. Other services are available in Lochaline 12 miles away.
Concerts are held regularly in the recently restored St. Columba’s Chapel on the Estate. Details are posted on the the community notice board in the village, along with other local community events. Forthcoming events will also be posted and highlighted on our website news page.
There is also a Caledonian McBrayne (CalMac) car ferry service that runs daily at regular intervals from Lochaline to Fishnish on Mull. There are other car ferries to and from Mull - Craignure to Oban, Tobermory to Kilchoan on Ardnamurchan and Fionnphort to the Island of Iona and Staffa. Drimnin Post Office - open Tuesday and Wednesday (stamps, cash withdrawals, usual post office services). In Lochaline, the Lochaline Stores (which also contains a post office) is open all year Monday - Saturday from 8.30am – 6pm and from 11.30am – 2pm on Sunday and sells groceries, household goods, alcohol, and newspapers. There are also fuel pumps, recycling bins and a launderette. The post office within the shop is open Monday-Friday and Saturday morning for all usual post office services including cash withdrawals.
The Lochaline Medical Centre (Tel: 01967 421252) surgery hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9.00-11.00 and Tuesday from 11.00-13.00. There is an out of hour’s service on Tel: 01967 421252 answered by NHS 24.
