Achleanan Farmhouse

Achleanan Farmhouse is the largest of the holiday cottages on the Estate. Used until 2002 for sheep shearing, this former farmhouse was restored in 2003 and sits alone 500 feet above the Sound of Mull with magnificent sea views to Mull and the Atlantic Ocean. Achleanan is ideal for those that prefer privacy as it is positioned on its own at the end of a track well beyond the current farm buildings.

Achleanan Farmhouse

Achleanan has great facilities and offers the perfect place for a family holiday. The spacious accommodation includes a white panelled sitting room with a wood burning stove (logs are provided) flat screen TV with DVD, hi-fi system and comfortable sofas to relax into after long days out exploring the 7,000 acre estate! There is a lovely garden room with large dining table which takes full advantage of the panoramic views and is an ideal spot to sit and watch for eagles that can often be seen in the area. There is a separate modern kitchen fully equipped with electric cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave. Water is from a private, estate-maintained, supply and is regularly quality tested by the Highland Council. For floorplans of the property see the gallery images at the bottom of this page.

Also on the ground floor is a twin bedroom, a fully tiled shower room and toilet, a large hall/boot room and a separate utility/drying room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Upstairs are another two bedrooms – one twin and one double with a king size bed – and a family bathroom with bath and shower above.

A travel cot for one infant or toddler up to two years old is available on request.

Achleanan Farmhouse

All linen, towels and electricity (plus logs for the stove) are included in the price. Additionally there is oil-fired central heating and double glazing throughout, making Achleanan Farmhouse suitable for holidays all year round.

The farmhouse has a smart TV, free Wifi (unlimited data, with speeds of around 30mbps) and mobile phone reception (in the garden room) for most networks (4G on some networks). Guests also have access to a games room (situated in an outbuilding to the side of Achleanan Farmhouse) that is equipped with a table tennis table, dartboard and a selection of exercise equipment – ideal for times when the weather is misbehaving. Small BBQ available.
Dogs are welcome at a small additional weekly charge.

There is an enclosed, pretty garden with picnic benches surrounding the property and parking just outside (immediately adjacent to the house). There is also an outside tap for washing muddy boots and dogs. Smoking is not permitted within the house.

Please note that any booking made for our cottages are made with Unique Cottages and are subject to their terms and conditions.

2nd - 16th November 2019 ------------- 'Another two fantastic weeks here. Fabulous weather - blue sky, bright sunshine and DRY!!! almost every day - very different to previous stays. Had lots of beautiful walks on this spectacular peninsula. Wildlife has been in abundance with almost daily otter sightings in bay below the chapel. Seals there, too. Highlight was seeing a Scottish Wildcat, complete with radiotracking collar. With the Lochaline ferry not taking cars (Oct-Dec 2nd) we have not made our usual trip to Mull and have stayed on the estate for the whole two weeks, so have felt very settled and have really had time to relax. Many thanks to everyone who works to keep this house and the estate so well.' M & J from Liverpool.

Caught the Lochaline ferry to Fishnish Monday 7am, drove to Tobermory to go whale watching with Sealife Surveys (4 hours). Great trip, saw a Minke whale, went along with along 100+ dolphins dancing around the boat for 20 minutes. Plenty of seabirds and a little rain. Pre-booked online boat was full, great morning. 3rd - 17th November 2018 -------------- "Our 3rd year staying in wonderful Achleanan - so comfortable, so warm and with such great views. Weather has been mostly wet with some strong winds at times. There were however some clear spells and the sight of the fine crescent moon in a pale orange sky over the Mull hills will stay in our memories for a long time. We had lots of good long walks and only one trip out in the car - to Tobermory for fresh green veg an delicious lightish lunch at An Tobar. We love the newly restored Fiddlers path through the magical woodland, but beware the field is extremely boggy, well worth doing though. Thanks to all who care so well for the house and the Estate. 4th-18th November 2017-------------- 'Two wonderful weeks here. This is such a beautiful Estate and Achleanan has been so comfortable & cosy, it has felt very luxurious. We love the peace up here on the hill and the views are incredible. Weather has been wet, but almost always there are breaks between showers and we have had two days of glorious sunshine when the autumn colours and sea were truly magnificent. We only left the Estate once to get to get fresh veggies from the co-op in Tobermory and have a delicious coffee and cake at An Tobar, the art centre. Thanks to all the staff at Drimnin for your care, helpfulness and warmth/ Also thanks for the wine and biscuits at the starts.xxx' M&J from Liverpool
